3-Year Acupuncture Diploma Program

In the Three-Year Full-Time Acupuncture Diploma, years 1 and year 2 are entirely dedicated to academic classroom learning, finishing at the end of June each year. July and August are summer break, while the third year is dedicated exclusively to clinical practice with no classroom commitment required. In some cases, students have the flexibility to take some first and second year courses in their third year in addition to their clinical studies to reduce their course load within the first two years.  Students may also choose to begin some of their clinical practice in the second year of the program but that is not mandatory.

2-Year Intensive Acupuncture Diploma Program

The Two-Year Full-Time Intensive Acupuncture Diploma Program and the Three-Year Full-Time Acupuncture Diploma Program share the same curriculum. The only difference is the structure of completion and timeline, in other words, this is a fast track program. Students of both the Two- and Three-Year Acupuncture Program share the same classroom and attend the same academic and practical classes through years one and two.

  • Students in the two-year Intensive program are required to finish all 3rd year required clinical hours within the two years, at the same time as completing classroom studies.
  • Students enrolled in the two-year Intensive program do not have a summer break. They also must commit to many evening and weekend clinics throughout their two- year studies, which will allow the students to complete the third -year clinical training in two years. Students will be responsible for scheduling themselves for clinical practice in the CCATCM student clinic, community clinic, S-T/L-C Professional Clinics or other approved professional clinics.
  • These students will also need to complete research projects and clinical hours in the summer between year one and two.

January students will have their own class as well as joining the previous September intake students in the classroom, taking the same classes as them in the winter and spring term and moving forward with the September students. These students will need to complete the classes offered in the previous fall term; some will be taken in the winter and/or spring term and some may be taken in the next fall term.  This means that students starting in January will be in classes more often than 2.5 days/week in order to complete their classroom studies.

January Intake students must attend additional courses besides their current term. The January intake must take two foundation courses in the January term in addition to the normal course load. The remaining three courses missed from the September term may be taken in the second or third year.

May Enrollment

May Intake students have a very light load for their first term. They would take two courses, which is most commonly Level One Acupressure Massage for one full day each week and either Tai Chi or Chinese Language and that would take place from the beginning of May until the end of June.  There would be no classroom study for this intake in the summer, only clinical practice. They would have the option to begin their clinical practice in July and August. One advantage of beginning in May is that after successfully completing the Level One Acupressure Massage, students would be qualified to begin practicing their acupressure massage on clients during the summer months under the guidance of the clinical supervisor.  In September, this group would proceed with a 2.5-day week, typically, Wednesday mornings and full days Thursday and Friday.
